A truly righteous gentile is gone

I have to wonder how many of you have heard the name Sir Nicolas Winton, and how many of you had heard it before today. Well, you should hear it....
Winton arranged what is known as the Kindertransport.

Here's an amazing video of Winton being surprised by some of the children (now adults and many quite elderly) that he saved.

Let's go to the videotape.

May his memory be blessed.

He was indeed a true hero of the very best kind! May he rest in peace.

Winton was disqualified from the Righteous among the Gentiles because of his Jewish ancestry.

As far as I can tell, he was never honored which seems a wrong. i've looked for information on Israel honoring him - or yad vashem -but to no avail.

Do you know if he was treated righteously by Israel?

I had no idea that he was Jewish but my 3rd cousin (who is Jewish) of mine in the US says he was a distant relation of hers. Now that's yichus!
